Dea Abakelia, born in 2004, is a Georgian pianist whose artistic development has been shaped by a strong tradition of musical education and active participation in international competitions and festivals. She began studying piano at the age of five and graduated with distinction from the Z. Paliashvili Central Music School for Gifted Children before completing her Bachelor's degree with honours at the Vano Sarajishvili Tbilisi State Conservatoire. In September 2026, she will continue her studies at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, where she will pursue a Master's degree under the guidance of Professor Pascal Nemirovski.
From an early age, Abakelia attracted attention through her performances in international competitions, receiving prizes at events including the Tbilisi International Young Pianists Competition, American Protege, Sviatoslav Richter Competition, International Piano Masters (IPM), Yamaha Music Gulf and the Toradze International Music Festival.
Alongside her artistic activities, she has participated in masterclasses with distinguished musicians, continually expanding her artistic perspective through collaboration with internationally recognised performers and pedagogues. Since 2024, her artistic development has been supported by the Swiss cultural association Jugend beflugelt. As part of this programme, she has received regular masterclasses from Irena Gulzarova, a pianist recognised for her artistic depth.
Her repertoire spans the central works of the piano literature, with a particular affinity for the music of Chopin, Schumann, Liszt, Bach and Ravel. Whether performing in recital, at festivals or in competition, she approaches each work with intellectual curiosity, stylistic integrity and a commitment to revealing its individual character.

Graduated with distinction. Dea actively participated in numerous school concerts, showcasing her artistry from an early age and winning her first international prizes during these years.

In July 2026, Dea graduated with her Bachelor of Music from the Sarajishvili State Conservatoire, completing her studies in the class of Professor Nino Tchirakadze with distinction. Throughout her studies she was praised for her expressive and refined interpretations. Professor Nino Tchirakadze is an Honored Artist of Georgia.

Dea will continue her advanced studies at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in the class of Professor Pascal Nemirovski, International Chair of Piano — one of the world's most sought-after piano pedagogues, Steinway Artist, and founder of the International Piano Masters.
